Placemaking is the process by which groups of people reimagine and reinvent public spaces as the heart of their community. I read today about the imaginative way that the city of Boston is introducing parklets as a way of encouraging people to reclaim pavements and revitalise public spaces. "Parklets are small public spaces that often replace two or three parking spots to make way for seating, greenery and other amenities". They are a cost-effective strategy to encourage greater and more diverse street life.
